OIL & GAS WORKERS, A ROCK BAND & A BUNNY COLLABORATION . . .
This Easter, Estrella are set to release a Charity Single with help from workers in the oil & gas industry and a bunny named CLANCY . . . who just happens to be the mascot of the local charity, CLAN Cancer Support. ALL proceeds from the Charity Single will help CLAN continue to provide emotional and practical support to cancer patients throughout the North East of Scotland, Moray, Orkney and Shetland.
This unlikely collaboration came about as a result of three young Oil & Gas Professionals - Stephen Wares, Cammy Bowden and Kevin Kilroy – entering a Project Management Competition run by the Association for Project Management. Each competing team was given £100 with the challenge to manage their project and raise the maximum amount possible for their chosen charity.
OffshoreCLAN, as they are collectively known, came up with the idea to Project Manage the release of a Charity Single and Music Video that would be uplifting, inspiring and express real hope for both the oil & gas industry, which has seen a huge downturn recently, and those affected by cancer; helping to raise morale and awareness to everyone involved.
Speaking on behalf of the OffshoreCLAN Team Stephen Wares said “This has been an exciting challenge for us, when it came to finding a song to use, I am a fan of Estrella, so after we all listened to the tracks from their second album “We Will Go On”, the team thought the lyrics of “Wheels Keep Turning” fitted perfectly. It’s a highly motivational song that empowers and encourages us all to never give up and to “keep moving on”. After approaching the band to take part, they kindly donated all proceeds from the single to our challenge, if we raise a lot of money for CLAN, we may even get Estrella’s single to enter the UK’s Top 40 Charts! And that would be a double achievement for us as a project team.”
To coincide with the release of the Charity Single, the team has been recording a Music Video over the past few weeks, featuring Estrella, local companies, oil and gas workers, with very special guest CLANCY, CLAN’s mascot, in the starring role. www.offshoreCLAN.com
Everyone involved with the project are hopeful that people across Aberdeen and around the UK will get behind this great cause by buying the single when it is released in time for Easter on Good Friday, 25th March. To pre order a copy now – https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/id1090989128?app=itunes
Commenting on the announcement, Estrella’s Lead Guitarist, Luke Gunn said: “We are delighted to be involved with this project and an entry for “Wheels Keep Turning” into the UK’s Top 40 would raise a lot of much needed funds for the charity, at the same time hugely increase the awareness of the excellent work CLAN are doing. As the clocks are about to spring forward in the weekend of 25th March, we would urge our #EstrellaWarriors and everyone backing the charity single to get a copy early, as we are already losing an hour to gain as many sales as possible!”
To get involved with the Offshore Clan Campaign, Estrella, CLAN and the Project Team are encouraging the public to use the hashtag #OffshoreClan and share the “Wheels Keep Turning” Music Video on social media.
OffshoreCLAN are one of two Aberdeen teams selected to take part in the APM’s 6th Challenge Awards where the winning team, from entries across Scotland, will be chosen at a prestigious night being held in Glasgow on Thursday 24 March 2016.
